Canna, Canna Everywhere, Yet not a Drop of Diversion

Note  Jerry Whiting just posted the audio of  a 15-minute chat he and I had the other day on this topic up on “LeBlanc CNE on Soundcloud” at the following link: https://soundcloud.com/leblanccne/jim-macrae-traceability-harvest Last year’s fall harvest was large enough, relative to the small number of retail access points licensed and open for business, to cause a multi-month “glut” of available product in wholesalers’ inventory.  This increased the difficulty for farms to sell their product at anticipated price levels and resulted, in many cases, in product remaining either unsold or unsold […]

The Hempfest Bump – Retail Sales Increase

During the 3 days of Hempfest weekend, Statewide retail sales (not counting taxes) at the Retail Access Points were: Friday $3,495,000 Saturday $2,928,000 Sunday $2,258,000 These represent (relative to the same day the prior week), increases of 4.8%, 7.1% and 1.2%, respectively. I’m guessing it was directly from participants in many of the primarily peaceful and compassionate marches and celebrations around the State. I’m further guessing that the Anarchistic sub-elements (Jerry — you know who I’m talking to behind that silky-smooth mask) likely consumed, per-capita, much more than your average MayDayer. Between Excise tax and State Sales tax (37% and 6.5%, respectively), […]

Porcine Ramblings: Cannabis Enforcement in WA

“You’re big and bad and scary — But people see through you” (Bruce Cockburn) As we approach the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Hempfest (North America’s Biggest and the World’s Best Protestival), I wanted to reflect briefly on some of the carryovers from the age when “The Man” routinely ruined the lives of it’s children by criminalizing their recreational and medical choices relating to Cannabis. First and foremost – we’ve come a long way, but the Herb is not yet legal.  Smoke a joint this weekend in front of Washington State […]
